Week 4 Entry
This week has possibly been my favorite so far. It was a culmination of what we have done over the course of the semester to this point, which has all been very valuable in my opinion. It helped solidify the foundation I believe we all need to have in order to have a successful career and a fulfilling life. This included things like finding and expressing our core values to us now, but also what we need to change or continue believing to become the people we want to be, having a solid vision for our life and a roadmap of how to get there, and utilizing tools like the Launching Leaders book by Steven A. Hitz and his Formula for success to align our dreams and visions into actionable steps that are much more achievable in our day to day life. This formula is something I have taken down in my notes personally and has really struck a chord. I have started applying myself to it and I truly believe its principles can lead to a successful and fulfilling career and life. It is to get up early, work hard, get an education, find your oil, make your mark, and give back. This encompasses everything you need to do to get the tools and make things happen that lead to success. I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle of this process but every step of it is something continuous that you need to apply over and over in your life for it to truly take hold and lead you to where you want to be. The most successful people never stop learning, never stop waking up early, never stop working hard, and something I have realized this week is they never stop giving back, because it is never too early to start. I would go as far as to say if you wait until you have made it and made your mark on the world to start giving back, that you are too late. There are so many opportunities for you to give others something of value before you make it to where you want to be yourself.
