Week 11 Entry
- What is your attitude toward money?
- My attitude towards money is as a resource. I think it is the key to unlocking your time. When you stop trading your time for a capped amount of money, you become financially free. If you can have people work for you, your money work for you, and get paid for your mind you are no longer bound by a salary and I believe that is when you become “financially free”. I think it is important, but should not be the goal in life and certainly will not bring happiness. It can give you more time and freedom to pursue the things that do truly bring happiness, and it can also give you the resources to give your family opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. It also gives you resources to make a difference in other peoples lives, if you have charity in your heart and want to serve your fellow people.
- How can your view of money affect the way you live?
- It can either consume you and control your life, or be a tool to enhance it. If it is all you care about pursuing, then you are controlled by it and regardless of how much money you have, you can never truly be financially free. The amount you have will never be enough and the fleeting spikes you get from every additional dollar will be less and less until you lose your purpose. Or, you can use it to give you the time and life you always wanted and share it with what will give you joy, your family and serving others.
- What rules are recommended for prospering?
- I would say you cannot “prosper” without the understanding we have in the gospel. Monetary prevalence is not prosperity. Riches of the world cannot prosper you. Only lasting thing and the Lord can truly prosper you, if you look for happiness in the places it actually exists.
