Week 12 Entry

This week, I learned a lot about how business, faith, and service connect. Elder Holland’s talk reminded me to stay humble. No matter how much success we have, we all rely on God’s grace. Achievements, wealth, or even righteousness don’t make anyone better than someone else. We all need the Lord, and that should shape how we treat others in life and business. I also thought a lot about consecrating my career. It’s possible to be successful without relying on God, but real fulfillment comes when we dedicate our efforts to Him. Hard work and achievement can happen without faith, but the lasting joy and blessings that come from aligning our work with His purposes require trust in Him. Success that is only about money or status fades over time. What really lasts is the way we serve others and the impact we have on their lives. This changes how I see my own career. It isn’t just about making a good living but about using my skills to do something meaningful. Thinking about my own goals, I k...

Week 11 Entry

What is your attitude toward money? My attitude towards money is as a resource. I think it is the key to unlocking your time. When you stop trading your time for a capped amount of money, you become financially free. If you can have people work for you, your money work for you, and get paid for your mind you are no longer bound by a salary and I believe that is when you become “financially free”. I think it is important, but should not be the goal in life and certainly will not bring happiness. It can give you more time and freedom to pursue the things that do truly bring happiness, and it can also give you the resources to give your family opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. It also gives you resources to make a difference in other peoples lives, if you have charity in your heart and want to serve your fellow people.  How can your view of money affect the way you live? It can either consume you and control your life, or be a tool to enhance it. If it is all you ...

Week 10 Entry

This week, I had a moment of reflection that highlighted the need for action, not just knowledge, in reaching my goals. In class, we discussed how the gospel is more about becoming someone, not just knowing facts. Elder Oaks' talk really resonated with me in this regard, emphasizing that true growth comes from actual change, not just absorption. While knowledge is key, it becomes meaningless if it doesn't transform us into something greater than where we started. This is the essence of the gospel in it’s entirety, for Christ to be able to give us the gift of redemption through being changed by him and becoming more than we are in this temporal state. I also realized the importance of thinking big. If we limit ourselves to what we know or where we are, we might miss out on opportunities to grow. Setting higher aspirations for ourselves is essential to achieving something worthwhile. This mindset ties into everything we’ve covered throughout the semester having a clear vision or ...

Week 9 Entry

This week in class we focused on two key areas. First, preparing for an informational interview with an entrepreneur of our choice and studying the principles of disciple leadership. Both of these topics have provided valuable insights that will impact my personal growth and future career. The first part of the week involved crafting thoughtful interview questions for an entrepreneur. The goal is to gain real world insights into their journey, challenges, and strategies for success. This exercise has helped me refine my ability to ask meaningful, open ended, probing, and confirmation questions, all skills that are not only useful for this interview but also crucial in my sales role and future business endeavors. Learning to extract valuable information through well structured questions is essential for building relationships, identifying opportunities, and making informed decisions. The second part of the coursework focused on disciple leadership, a concept that emphasizes leading with...

Week 8 Entry

The first activity that we did this week was centered around a discussion on the most difficult thing holding us back from success in our entrepreneurial journey. I talked a lot about how I always think too far and too much into the future, and I don’t take moments to sit back and enjoy the present. I am a planner, and whenever I reach a milestone and accomplish a goal, I never take the time to appreciate accomplishing it and look at how far I have come. I am always on to the next goal, the next step, and I don’t feel like I have done enough. I have to keep pressing in the direction I want to be to try to reach a ceiling that raises as I get closer to it. I will never arrive where I want to be. There are pros and cons to this. I know it will keep driving me in the right direction and give me the motivation to move forward, but I need to take a step back and enjoy the journey, because that is where the fulfillment and joy comes from. All of the successful people I know would trade ...
